Liquid Pressure Cells

In these cells the pressure is continuously adjusted from 0 to Pmax while the sample is in the beam. The cell is linked via a flexible high pressure capillary to a liquid pressure generator, or a high pressure syringe, which is located several meters away. The pressure transmitting medium can be "fluorinert" (a fluorocarbon), deuterated hydrocarbon or alcohol (such as iso-propanol). When null matrix Ti-Zr alloy is used for the cell body, there is very little coherent scattering. The maximum sample dimensions vary with cells and pressure ranges. Most cells fit into standard "Orange" cryostats.

These pressure cells are available on request. Sufficient advance notice to sane(at)ill.fr is required for their reservation and preparation.

ATTENTION: samples crystallising under pressure must not be injected through sample sticks to avoid blockages. In that specific case, only clamps or cells with in-situ separator can be used.
