M complex - Pi // Ox

Spherical Neutron Polarimetry simulations. Case of pure magnetic signal: M complex and Pi // Ox

The incident polarisation vector is chosen parallel to the X axis, i.e. around the scattering vector Q. The direction of the scattered polarisation is shown in red.

The magnetic chiral term of Blume's equation leads to the creation of a component of polarisation parallel to the scattering vector. When Pi is parallel to Q, this leads to a π rotation of the incident polarisation. We can see that the cross-section does not necessarily depend on the orientation of the magnetic interaction vector.
