High Temperatures

Automatic Furnace Controllers

We provide seven 2 kVA and 3.5 kVA automatic power crates for regulating the temperature in the ILL-type resistive furnaces. The operating principle is quite simple. Once the vacuum gauge, the two thermocouples and the water cooling circuit are connected, simply insert the stick in the furnace, lock it and select the desired temperature. The Eurotherm 2704 controller automatically stops heating if the sample degases too much and waits until the vacuum is good enough to continue heating.

We also provide a similar but more compact power supply for regulating the temperature in the resistive furnaces which can be mounted on the cradles (e.g. on D9). The installation of the sample requires manipulating a sphere and fragile insulators and it is highly advisable to ask the Local Contact to perform this work. Once the furnace is closed, the power supply heats the sample in the same way as described above. Remote operation is possible using the Modbus serial communication protocol (RS485 serial port or Ethernet).

15 old power racks are still available on the instruments or from the pool. These aging systems are not as safe and automatic as the racks mentioned above. Apart a few of them that are dedicated to specific furnaces (e.g. the mirror furnace), most of these power racks are exchangeable and regulated with WEST controllers. In this case, remote operation is only possible using a RS485 serial communication protocol.
