D20 with 15T

158OXHV26 (15T)

Stray Magnetic Field and Siting Issues on D20

We present below the magnetic forces measured on D20 with the 15 T vertical field magnet 158OXHV26.

In 2015, we have replaced some components of the instrument to reduce the amplitude of the magnetic forces. The radial and vertical maximum forces remain respectively below 40 and 270 daN at the maximum field of 15 T at the two take-off angles 42 and 90°. The cryomagnet can therefore be used up to nominal field.

Previously, the applied field was limited to 9T at a take-off of 42° and 11 T at a take-off of 90°.
