Magnetic structure of exchange coupled heterostructures

Polarized reflecvitity of an LCMO/CRTO multilayer in antiferromagnetic and saturated ferromagnetic state.

Magnetic structure of exchange coupled heterostructures

D17 in polarised TOF mode is well suited to study the magnetic structure of thin film and multilayer structures.
The spin dependent reflectivity reveals the magnetic ordering of individual layers in the sample as well as across interfaces.

In this example, the magnetic switching process of an all-oxide La2/3Ca1/3MnO3/CaRu1/2Ti1/2O(LCMO/CRTO) synthetic antiferromagnet superlattice was investigated. The data recorded at different external fields, shown for the initial antiferromagnetic state and saturation in the figure, revealed a magnetic soliton mediated reversal mechanism with individual layer switching.
