ILL Science Colleges
The ILL scientific life is organised in 'Colleges', each college dealing with a particular field of research and the associated neutron methods and instrumentation. ILL scientists are members of one or more colleges, depending on their personal research interest. Each college is animated by a College Secretary elected amongst its members.
For each college there is a corresponding review panel that assesses the proposals in that field of research. These review panels, known as ‘Subcommittees’ (of the Scientific Council), meet twice a year (in Spring and Autumn) to evaluate the proposals submitted to the ILL and issue recommendations on beamtime allocation.
Subcommittee panel members are selected from the academia, with a nominated Chair. The panel also comprises the elected ILL College Secretary, who takes part in the organisation of the subcommittee meetings, an ILL Specialist, who can give technical advice during proposal evaluation. The chairs of the subcommittees are also invited to join the Scientific Council meetings.
Seminars are regularly organised at ILL by the different colleges. Suggestions for speakers are most welcome: please send them to the college secretaries.
If you are coming for an experiment in Grenoble (ILL, ESRF, EMBL, CEA, CNRS, ...) don't hesitate to combine this with giving a seminar at ILL. Travel and expenses for your stay may be reimbursed. Please consult our travel and reimbursement policy.
Below, you will find the list of the ILL colleges with the link to their web pages and members of the subcommittee panel.
