“Testing the Standard Model with Beta Decay Lifetime and Correlations

Chien-Yeah Seng

FRIB, Michigan State University, USA, seng@remove-this.frib.msu.edu

Beta decays of neutron and nuclei provide powerful means to test the Standard Model and to search for physics beyond it. Measurements of decay lifetimes and decay correlations, for instance, play a key role in the precise determination of the CKM matrix element Vud, in the search for exotic currents in charged weak interactions, and even in probing light degrees of freedom that extend beyond the effective field theory framework. In this talk, I will give a brief overview of the current status of the field, highlighting recent theoretical and experimental advances, and will offer an outlook on future prospects.
