Thermal neutron time-of-flight spectrometer PANTHER
Panther is a high-flux medium-resolution thermal-neutron direct-geometry time-of-flight spectrometer optimized for energy transfers in the range 2-60 meV. It is designed for inelastic neutron-scattering measurements of excitations in condensed matter using single crystals, polycrystalline samples, and liquids. It is currently using unpolarized neutrons.
- Crystal field excitations, spin-waves in magnetically ordered materials, magnetic excitations in quantum and/or frustrated magnets.
- Lattice dynamics: phonon dispersion and phonon density of states.
- Vibrational spectroscopy in the lower energy range.
- Quantum rotations/translations of small molecules in confinements.
