PANTHER
Thermal neutron time-of-flight spectrometer
Panther - Thermal neutron time-of-flight spectrometer

Panther is a high-flux medium-resolution thermal-neutron direct-geometry time-of-flight spectrometer optimized for energy transfers up to 150 meV. It is designed for inelastic neutron-scattering measurements of excitations in condensed matter using single crystals, polycrystalline samples, glasses and liquids. It is currently working with unpolarized neutrons.
Applications
- Crystal field excitations.
- Spin-waves in magnetically ordered materials.
- Magnetic excitations in quantum and frustrated magnets.
- Lattice dynamics : phonon dispersion and phonon density of states.
- Vibrational spectroscopy in the lower energy range.
- Quantum rotations and translations of small molecules in confinements.
