Some information on cookies

Cookies are set on your computer, telephone or tablet whenever you visit our website.

This page sets out what the ILL does with the data it receives in this way, and how we respect your privacy. We operate in compliance with the recommendations of France's data protection authority, the CNIL.

Accepting or refusing cookies

There are various options open to you for managing cookies.

You can block them at any time, for instance. Or you can configure your browser to alert you and obtain your permission when a site tries to set a cookie on your machine. You can refuse or accept cookies on a case-by-case basis, or refuse them outright.

As some of our services depend on cookies, however, this can limit your access to these and disrupt your browsing experience.

If you choose to completely disable cookies on our website, you may no longer be able to use all the interactive functions.

For the best experience, we recommend you configure your browser taking into account the purpose of the cookies in question.

The procedures for this depend on the browser you are using. From your browser's Help menu you should be able to find the instructions for managing how your browser handles cookies.

What's the point of cookies?

Cookies are merely small text files saved on your device by our website, to store information when you visit it. They give us information on how the site is used, how well it functions, and how to improve its performance (e.g. the most popular pages).

To help us adapt our website to our visitors' requirements, we use cookies to measure the number of visits received and pages consulted, how visitors use the site and at what intervals of time. We also collect the device's IP address, to identify the town and country of the connection. This data is then immediately anonymised. It is therefore not possible for us, on this basis, to identify physical persons.

The cookies set by the website also help us adapt its pages to the device you are using (operating system, viewing preferences - resolution etc.).

We may also build third-party applications into the website allowing you to share content from the site or let other people know when you are browsing the site or what you think about its content. This includes for example the Share buttons on social network sites like Facebook or Twitter.

Be aware that these sites can identify you via these buttons. We therefore advise you to read their privacy policies, so that you understand how your personal data will be used, for commercial purposes in particular.
