"Dark matter from Mirror World: the neutron connection"

Dr. Zurab Berezhiani

Università degli Studi dell'Aquila, italy

There can exist a mirror sector of particles, an exact duplicate of the ordinary particle sector. Mirror dark matter is a viable candidate for dark matter, with interesting cosmological and astrophysical implications I shall concentrate on possible cross-interactions between the particles between the ordinary and mirror particles which violate baryon and/or lepton number conservation in both sectors.

In the early universe, these interactions give rise to co-baryogenesis mechanism which can naturally explains the close coincidence between the ordinary and dark matter fractions. At present universe, they can give rise to mixing phenomena of the neutral ordinary particles with their mirror twins, as the neutron--mirror neutron (n-n') mixing.

I shall discuss the present experimental limits of n-n' mixing and its astrophysical implications for the cosmic rays and neutron stars.
