Joint Integrative Computational Biology workshop and 8th CAPRI meeting
14 Feb 2024The Integrative Computational Biology Workshop brought together structural biologists with mathematicians and computer scientists on the EPN campus this week. The goal was to contribute to progress in the modelling of proteins' behaviour.
Structural biologists study the structure and dynamics of biological macromolecules, particularly proteins. Mathematicians and computer scientists create models and simulations, enabling the analysis of their 3D structure and of how alterations in their structures affect their function.
This week the Integrative Computational Biology Workshop brought together the two communities on the EPN campus with the goal of contributing to progress in modelling proteins' behaviour, predicting their biophysical properties and analysing experimental data.
The state of the art in different branches of structural biology was presented, and the need for new algorithms when dealing with challenging systems was discussed with the modelling community.
Discussions on recent progress in modelling protein interactions and assemblies continue until Saturday in the 8th CAPRI meeting (Critical Assessment of PRediction of Interactions). Both meetings took place in the Institute of Structural Biology (IBS) on the EPN campus.
