Andreas Meyer nominated Scientific Director of FRM II

ILL's German Associate Director Andreas Meyer will become Scientific Director of FRM II, the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
The nomination has just been announced by FRM II (read more in the FRM II website). Andreas Meyer has served as German Associate Director and Head of the Technology and Projects Division (DPT) at the ILL since 2021. As head of the DPT, he played an important role in the final years of the ambitious Endurance upgrade programme, which started in 2016 and was completed in 2024. Andreas Meyer will take over from Christian Pfleiderer at FRM II on 1 October 2026, upon completing his term at the ILL.
Also on 1 October 2026, the new ILL senior management team will take up duties. Regine Willumeit-Römer will become general director, with Ken Andersen and Jacques Jestin continuing at the ILL as Associate Directors. Funded and managed by France, Germany and the United Kingdom, in partnership with 10 Scientific Member countries, the ILL is led by a Director and two Associate Directors representing the Institute’s three Associate countries in rotating roles (read the dedicated news article in this website).
Ken Andersen, ILL Director since 2023, declared: "I wish to thank Andreas for his work and engagement during these years at the ILL, and to congratulate him warmly for this new role. I am convinced that his nomination will contribute to strengthening the already close collaboration between our two sources, which will continue to play major roles in the European neutron landscape for many years to come."
