Employment

 

Present position: Institut Laue Langevin (ILL)

 

The ILL is an internationally funded research nuclear reactor providing a source of neutrons for the analysis of materials in physics, chemistry and biology.

 

Job Title: ‘Instrument Responsible’ since 5/12/94

 

Duties:

 

  • Maintaining a complex scientific instrument for external scientists and industrial customers
  • Development of analysis and control software
  • Local contact for external experiments
  • Collaboration with international scientific groups in my own research areas of superconductivity, optics and microelectronics.

 

 

Key achievements:

 

  • Awarded a permanent contract in 1997
  • Assigned project manager to rebuild the instrument D17 including:
  • Definition of the scientific and technological specifications
  • Writing simulation software for a neutron guide project
  • Control of project budget (3.5 MF)
  • Working with subcontractors and internal employees to realise construction
  • Design of new instrument control software (IDL)
  • Successful testing of instrument confirming technological specifications

Designed instrument Figaro.

Designed reflectometry part of the D50 instrument.

Group responsible 2010-15

  • Published scientific results in international journals including Nature and Physical Review Letters
