Management structure

The Steering Committee representing the Associates, meets twice a year (in June and December) to establish general strategy for managing the Institute. It takes the important policy decisions concerning the future of the Institute.
The Associates from the founding countries have decision-making authority at these meetings; the representatives of the Scientific Member countries take part in the meetings in an  observer capacity.

The Scientific Council advises the Directors on scientific priorities for the Institute and how to develop the instrument suite and technical infrastructure in order to best meet the needs of the user research programme. It also assesses the scientific output of the Institute.
The Scientific Council is composed of 15 members representing the Associates and the Scientific Members and meets twice a year. The chairs of the subcommittees are also invited to join these meetings.

The Scientific Council reports back to the Steering Committee, our governing body,  which has the ultimate responsibility for determining operational and investment strategies for the Institute.
