Double Exchange Spin Dynamics within Valence Delocalised Molecular Magnets

Molecule-based materials are on the forefront of development in several quantum technologies. To unlock their full potential, targeted engineering of molecules with desired properties is essential.  A cornerstone of this effort is to establish quantitative relations between chemistry and a molecule's physical properties, e.g. spin dynamics. In particular, the possibility to control molecular spin dynamics via external stimuli are desirable. Inelastic neutron scattering is the most powerful tool for studying molecular spin dynamics at the atomic level. My PhD work sets out to quantify a certain type of spin dynamics, double exchange, for the first time. Molecules exhibiting double exchange are predicted to be susceptible to applied electric fields and are as such promising candidates for use in quantum technologies. The insight into double exchange spin dynamics obtained during my PhD will move this effort forward.
