Data treatment

Postponement of last reactor cycle 2017

The ILL will not be able to operate the reactor cycle originally planned to start on October 23. Due to the resulting backlog of experiments, the first two cycles in 2018 will be used to perform experiments already accepted in April 2017.
We have therefore decided to cancel the current proposal round. Proposals for experiments in the second half of 2018 should be submitted in the spring proposal round.

Spring 2017 panels meeting

The ILL subcommittees reviewed 592 proposals, requesting 3909 days. 377 proposals were accepted for a total of 2075 instrument days.

ENDURANCE Phase 2

The ILL's Scientific Council and its Subcommittees met on April 4-7.  The new Chair, Christian Rueegg from PSI, and the members endorsed the extension (Phase 2) of the Endurance upgrade programme and nominated Ken Andersen (ESS) to chair the instrument sub-committee, which will evaluate a subset of the 37 instrument and infrastructure proposals.

Transfer of large data sets to your home lab

A new service is available to ILL users, who would like to download large volume of experimental data. Until now this was only possible via solutions based on the http protocol (data.ill.eu or explorer.ill.eu) not ideal for transferring large data volumes.
More information is available at here.

Annual Report

The ILL Annual Report 2016 has been published. Contact us if you wish a copy or consult the on line version.

The deadline for contributions to the next Annual Report is 1 October 2017.

New site entrance

Please note that the new site entrance - located at 71 avenue des Martyrs - will come into operation on 22 April 2014. You will no longer be able to access the site via the current site entrance on rue Horowitz.
A new n°34 bus stop is going to be created in front of the new site entrance. Only those buses that terminate at Château de Sassenage will stop at this stop, in other words one bus in every three. Please see the new timetables and route maps for the n° 34 bus.

At the beginning of September, the Tram B extension will come in to service. From the current terminus "Cité Internationale", the extension of the B line will connect  the station area with the Resistance roundabout (near the ILL) via the Rue des Martyrs. Two new stops, CEA and Resistance will be created. Once the B line extension is operational, the n° 34 bus service between the city centre and the Polygone Scientifique / Sassenage will be cancelled.

Use of site ID badge at the ILL/ESRF restaurant

From now on the site ID badges must be used for paying for meals at the ILL/ESRF restaurant. This should simplify and improve the payment procedures.

You can credit your badge or be reimbursed at the restaurant cash desk, as with the previous canteen card.
The cash desk is open during mealtimes and also from 9.00 to 11.00, and from 13.30 to 15.30, Monday to Friday.

New access to experimental halls

Introduction of controlled access to the experimental halls ILL7 and ILL22

Users are reminded that LAMP, the IDL-based data inspection and analysis application, can be downloaded from the ILL's ftp server. Runtime versions, which can be used without an IDL license, are available for Windows and UNIX systems. HDF data files in the NeXus format can be read and produced by LAMP.
