Gas Pressure Cells

In these cells, the pressure can be continuously adjusted from 0 to Pmax while the sample is in the beam. The cell is linked via a 'flexible' high-pressure capillary to a gas pressure generator located several metres away. The pressure transmitting medium is helium gas. When null matrix Ti-Zr alloy is used for the cell body, there is very little coherent scattering. The maximum sample dimensions vary with cells and pressure ranges. Most cells fit into standard "Orange" cryostats. The ILL can supply a complete system including the dedicated pressure generator if required.

These pressure cells are available on request. Sufficient advance notice to sane(at)ill.fr is required for their reservation and preparation.
