Ending protocol

  1. Drive all motors to zero (Linux machine)

  2. Stop the NOMAD server (Linux machine)

  3. Stop PSLView (Windows 10 machine)

  4. Switch off the detectors

  5. Place the lens cap on the camera

Are you the last user of the day?  If so, lock the Windows 10 display.

1. Drive all motors to zero

This is action is performed using NOMAD.

You may either drive omegatilt1 and tilt2 individually to zero using the NOMAD Execution tab,

or you may click-and-drag Commands : Users' scripts : Shared : Home to the Launch pad and click Play (►).

2. Stop the NOMAD server

NOMAD runs from the Linux machine.

There is an icon with a white cross in a red circle in the menu bar.  Click it.

 

Alternatively, open a Terminal and type at the prompt:

     > cmo kill ns

3. Stop PSLViewer

PSLViewer runs from the Windows 10 machine.

Close the software using the Exit option under the File menu in the operations window.

4. Switch off the detectors

There are two power supplies to the detectors.  They are located on top of the detector box.  They are switched off from behind the the power supplies.

5. Place the lens cap on the camera

Pretty self-explanatory, this one.

Are you the last user of the day?

Once you have fully completed the shut down procedure above, you can help the OrientExpress responsible by locking the screen for the Windows 10 machine.

  1. Click on the Windows icon in the bottom left of the Windows 10 screen.  A drop list will appear.
  2. Click on the User icon at the top of the drop list.  A further list of options will appear.
  3. Click on the Lock option to lock the screen, and admire the pretty picture that appears.
