Thermal neutron three-axis spectrometer IN8
IN8 is a high-flux thermal neutron three-axis spectrometer designed for inelastic measurements on single crystals over a wide range of energy and momentum transfer.
IN8 is optimised for inelastic measurements with an energy transfer in the range of a few meV to about one hundred meV and is used to investigate:
- magnetic excitations, lattice vibrations and excitations in liquids
- samples of small volume and weak inelastic response due to its high incident flux
This drawing show the most classical setup but the instrument can also receive multi-analyser detector systems like Flatcone or IMPS.
