Our advice to candidates

Just be yourself!

During your interviews, looking at your documents, we'll be trying to understand who you are, what you believe in, how you fit in with others, what motivates you and "makes you tick".

The key to success? Know yourself well, be well prepared, and practise talking about yourself!

Here are a few tips to help you understand our recruitment process:

Before applying:

    •    Read the job description carefully, to make sure you understand the subtleties of the post and ILL's expectations.

    •    Find out what you can about the ILL, what it does and how it operates.

Before the interview:

    •   Prepare a list of questions you may have about the post, the ILL etc.

    •   If it's a telephone interview, make sure you can be reached somewhere quiet where you won't be disturbed.

    •   You can prepare other credentials to support your application apart from your CV - reference letters, list of publications, project reports, payslips supporting your financial expectations etc.

    •   Make sure you know where the interview is to take place and how to get there, to avoid being late.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

During the interview:

    •   The interview provides an important opportunity for dialogue; it's also the moment to ensure you fully understand the full scope of the post and working environment.

    •   You should also ensure you communicate clearly on your skills, former experience and any advantages you may have for the post. Be factual and concrete in your explanations.

    •   Feel free to take notes on important points.

    •   Don't hesitate to ask questions.

And in all events, be yourself!

After the interview:

    •   If, after the interview, you have any other questions, feel free to contact us again.

    •   If you don't hear from us, get in touch to know where things stand.

    •   If you are not successful with your application, we can provide some oral feedback if you request it.
