The ILL reimburses return travel costs between your home laboratory and the ILL using means of transport authorised by the ILL; any exceptions must be agreed beforehand with the User Office. Users are asked to make their own travel arrangements.
Train
2nd class fare will be paid.
Air
ILL reimburses the cost of an economy flight. The invoice and copy of the tickets must be submitted.
Car
- A private car may be used; reimbursement is on the basis of km travelled at a rate of 0.18 EUR/km (this rate covers all travel costs; ie motorway tolls, petrol). Prior authorization is not required. Passengers are not eligible for travel reimbursement.
- If the experiment requires the transport of heavy or bulky equipment, which cannot be carried by public transport, the ILL reimburses the kms at a higher rate. For this special arrangement, prior authorisation by SCO is required. Car hire, motorway tolls, fuel, tunnels etc; are not reimbursed.
- For users coming from a long distance, reimbursement is possible for up to 2 additional days if an overnight stay is needed en route.
Additional expenditure (taxi, bus, car parking ...)
- Airport bus or 2nd class train fare to and from airport; taxi fares within Grenoble in exceptional circumstances and on submission of receipts.
- Where public transport is available airport parking fees are not reimbursed
- Taxis will not be reimbursed whilst travelling to ILL if public transport is available
- Meals and accommodation whilst travelling to the ILL are not reimbursed
