Thermal

BPC carries out thermal studies dedicated to solid state systems : conduction, convection and radiation in and between solids are probed.

 

Temperature mapping of a flange connecting a sample tube to a thermal machine:

In this example, the flange is a thermal link between a thermal machine and a sample tube. The study showed that bending layers, which can be observed in the middle of the flange, doesn't change in a significant way the temperature mapping of the flange. In order to compensate thermal differential dilatations during the cooling, we proved that this system had not to be built in two different parts linked by dedicated wires.
