Good chemistry between ESRF and ILL and local 'Pôles de Compétivités'

French Local and regional competitiveness clusters, the so-called Pôles de Compétivités, have been created during the last half decade to boost synergies between science and industry. Ecobiz Filière Chimie Environnement and Axelera are two of our local Poles, focused on the chemistry and environmental sectors for Isère and Région Rhône-Alpes respectively.

Both ESRF and ILL joined these two Poles during 2010 and over 40 industrialists from them visited the EPN Science Campus on 18 January to discover our facilities and the opportunities for industrial R&D. After an ESRF-ILL Director double-act to introduce the EPN Campus, the industrial scientists saw for themselves the ESRF's and ILL's state-of-the-art facilities. Our visitors were impressed by the potential that is available here! After this first step, the next one will be to follow-up the most promising contacts to create the new synergies…
