Small-angle scattering is a technique that measures the deviation to small angles (much less than one degree to several degrees) of an X-ray or neutron beam due to structures of small size in the sample. “Small” means dimensions of a few tenths to about 100 nanometres, such as clusters in alloys, polymers, or biological macromolecules.

MADThe program MAD (Multidetector Acquisition of Data) controls the data acquisition and other tasks (see topics) of the instrument D22. This manual describes the UNIX version of MAD installed on D22 since June 1998. Please, send your comments and suggestions concerning this document to Roland May. Normally, MAD is activated on the monitor of the acquisition work station d22 by the user "d22". Only a privileged user may bypass this rule. Inside the ILL, an up-to-date version of this help file is available on the instrument computer. Information about D22 can be found on the D22 yellow page in ILL's WWW server.
