Reflectometer D17

D17 is the first ILL dedicated reflectometer and it has been designed to be as flexible as possible in resolution and modes of operation. The instrument is suitable for the analysis of surface structures in solids and solid/liquid interfaces. Horizontal surface experiments, such as free liquids, will suffer from a severe restriction in Q-range and flux and are thus not recommended for this instrument.

Data Path:

Enter the path to your data here.  If you're trying to access data while at the ILL, here's a couple of useful paths:

While using LAMP on the D17 instrument:     /users/data/

If trying to access the current cycle from the D17 PC:     \\serdon\data\d17\

If trying to access a previous cycle from the D17 PC:       \\serdon\yyc\d17\

(yy = year, c = cycle.  e.g. second cycle, 2005, = 052)

Don't forget the last slash!

Water Runs:

Enter the number of the file that contains the water run.  If using more than one file, use + to separate the file numbers.

Setup Columns:

Clicking this button will open a new window with two options:

  1. Enter a third angle.
  2. Enter an instrument background

Be warned!  Choosing one or both of these options will insert extra columns, and your data table may need to be edited.

See the help on Data Table for more information on the new columns.

Fill Down:

An easy way to enter data in to the table.  Left click and drag in the cells of a column that you want to fill, enter the increment in the box, and click the 'Fill Down' button.  Hey presto!  Filled columns!

This is particularly useful for entering the Direct Beam measurements.  Use 'Fill Down' with an increment of zero.
