Many body physics in condensed matter :

  • Metal-insulator Mott transition vs symmetry breaking
  • Spin polarized liquid 3He
  • Superfluidity vs localization, and internal coherence in Bose liquids
  • Kondo effect and Kondo alloys, other examples of edge singularities
  • Surface physics and crystal growth. Facetting and the roughening transition. Static and dynamic properties of crystal steps.
  • Thermodynamics and phase transitions. Fluctuations and brownian motion.
  • Nucleation theory.
