Characteristics

Characteristics

Combination of the best properties of TAS and TOF:

  • continuous beam and large solid angle
  • using space focusing: a small single counter
    • increase in solid angle (up to 2.5 Sterad, better than on the best TOF) without multiplying counting volume (much better than TOF).
    • typical instrument volume ~1 m3
  • low and sample–independent BG: protection on the sample-counter path
  • HOPG: improved resolution
  • Be:  now it acts as filter for higher orders
