A road map for processing polarised neutron data
iFitIt is a JAVA graphical interface which partially automates and makes easier the steps of the processing of polarized neutron data. It drives a set of FORTRAN scientific programs, federates their parameter and data sets and computes standard deviations through a perturbation method.
It has been designed with in mind a “standard data processing strategy”. In the latter both the extinction and depolarization corrections are refined from the polarized neutron dataset itself.
The concurrent approach - extinction estimated from unpolarised neutron measurements - will also be implemented in iFitIt in the future.

Comments:
The JAVA interface is operational and implements most of the features described in the manual. However, the undo/redo is not yet fully operational, the computation of standard deviations through a perturbation method is not yet implemented.
The FORTRAN programs are operational but a bug in the diamagnetism algorithm is not yet fixed.
Most of the development is performed on the Mac OS X platform.
