The inspection held on 5 March 2009 examined the ILL's management of its confinement systems, and of the confinement of the hot source in particular. The inspectors checked that the ILL was meeting its obligations in this area, monitoring discrepancies and respecting its reference safety standards, for the periodic testing schedules in particular. They went on to visit the control room and installations.
This inspection raised one  significant issue.
The inspectors found that the ILL's management of its confinement systems was satisfactory. They nevertheless requested that ILL update its safety files to ensure consistency between the different documents (safety reports, general operating rules).
