The 4 December 2007 inspection examined the ILL's procedures for the control of radioactive material at its reception on site or prior to its despatch from the site.

The inspectors looked in particular at the ILL's official reporting, at the duties of the safety advisor, the training of those involved, the radioprotection programme and radiological hygiene, its relations with service providers and its arrangements for crisis management.

Following their inspection the inspectors expressed overall satisfaction with the ILL's procedures for managing the transport of radioactive material. The Institute is nevertheless asked to improve its documentation, and the content of the safety advisor's annual report in particular.
