The inspection of 23 January 2009 was designed to examine the ILL's procedures for monitoring and overseeing the maintenance work carried out on the reactor (which was shut down at the time). The inspectors reviewed the action taken by the Institute in response to the requests made by the safety authorities during an inspection of the same type in 2008. They also reviewed the steps taken by ILL to deal with non-significant events detected in 2008. The inspectors then visited different jobsites on the ILL site. This was an opportunity for them to inspect the job documents together with the operators concerned.
