The inspection of 18 November 2008 was designed to examine the ILL's procedures for the event of a fire. The inspection began with an unannounced fire drill, providing the inspectors with an opportunity to observe staff reactions and compliance with procedures. The inspectors went on to examine ILL's reporting, and to visit the ILL 7 laboratories.
They considered that the ILL had reacted relatively well to the unannounced fire drill, but they  nevertheless formulated remarks on the level of reporting. They also found a number of anomalies during the visit to the ILL 7 laboratories which require corrective action. For this inspection various significant issues were recorded.
