The purpose of the inspection of 13 September 2007 was to check the efficiency of the procedures used to manage the ILL's electrical supply facilities. The inspecting team examined the maintenance and testing of the electricity supplies and ILL's use of the feedback obtained. It visited the units housing the transformers, batteries and electricity generators.
The inspection gave rise to one important observation. The regulatory testing of the ILL's electrical equipment carried out by the authorised agency was not systematically followed up through the implementation of corrective action. Some equipment had not been tested three years in succession.
The inspectors considered that the procedures used to manage the electrical supplies were generally satisfactory. The controls, periodic testing and outsourced operations are all closely monitored.  It was nevertheless noted that there was a need to improve the monitoring and implementation of the statutory testing performed by certified external agencies.
