The ILL is dedicated to helping its visiting researchers to make the most of its facilities. Neutron beams and instrument access are provided free of charge for proposers of accepted experiments.

Life on site - useful informationACCOMMODATIONVisitors invited for experiments will be accommodated in the Guest House (depending on room availability); it is located on site, to the right of the main gate as you enter. Please remember that all reservations for the Guest House are processed by ILL Reception and not directly with the Guest House. For visits linked with experiments you must complete and submit the registration form via the Visitors Club. and do not need to call us for confirmation: as long as you have correctly submitted your registration form you will not be forgotten. You will receive confirmation of where you are staying by email from welcome(at)ill.eu; you can also check the status of your accommodation on the Visitors Club registration form. The information will be visible once the booking iis confirmed.
Users receiving reimbursement of expenses: the costs of the room and breakfast will be paid directly by the ILL for the nights covered. Extra nights to be paid directly by the guest (see below). Users not being reimbursed by the ILL, or extra nights: guests will have to pay their stay directly at the Guesthouse (cash, credit card or French bank cheque). NEW- Starting from April 2012, your site entrance badge will now be used instead of the canteen card for the payment of meals at the ILL/ESRF common restaurant. You can charge your badge or get your money back at the cash desk, as with the previous magnetic canteen card. The cash desk is open during mealtimes and also from Monday to Friday.
The canteen is open at the following times:
Onsite cafeteriaThe cafeteria is open between 9.30 and 15.00, Monday to Friday. From 10.00 onwards there will also be a variety of sandwiches, salads, fruit and snacks, etc. available. You can pay with your canteen card, in cash or by credit card. LIBRARYThe joint ILL-ESRF library is open between the hours of 08.00 and 17.00. During non-working hours you may access the library with your badge.
COMPUTER & WIFI ACCESSThere are computers available on free access in building ILL19 Room 012
All computers on free access can print to any ILL printer on the network. Adobe is installed on the PCs. Mathematics libraries: Mathematica, Matlab are available on the Linux PCs. Mathcad and Origin are not available. There is a computer available to users in the main lobby of ILL. During office hours you may have access to a computer in ILL4 Room 127 near the User Office. You can also plug in your own laptop. Please check first with us, as this room is also used for meetings. NEW - Access to ILL's wireless internet network (wifi) The new ILL Scientific Visitors wireless network has been put in place, and can be accessed from all the experimental areas and office buildings. You can log in with your Visitors’ Club user name and password. By the end of 2011 we expect to extend the coverage of this network to the Guest House. LOST & FOUNDLost items are taken to ILL Reception for safekeeping. During office hours please contact ILL Reception directly: ext. 71 11. Outside office hours please contact site security at the entrance to the experimental zone on Level C - ext. 14.
