Instruments & Support

While the ILL's neutron source has remained essentially unchanged during the lifetime of the Institute, the ILL's instruments and their components have been continually developed and improved to increase their effectiveness.

The 2012 call is not yet open.

The Soft Matter Café

Regular one-hour long meetings of the ILL soft matter scientists have started in Spring 2009. Since February 2010 ESRF has joined the initiative. During these meetings up-dates will be received on the PSCM initiative and scientists will have the opportunity to talk about a subject of choice (their research, instrument, other activity) and exchange with the others.

The meetings will take place either in the CIBB seminar room or in the common building seminar room (106 - next to the library) @ 3p.m.

Coffee and biscuits will be offered at the end of each meeting

ESRF & ILL PARTNERSHIP FOR SOFT MATTER
Workshop on Scattering and Complementary Techniques

Grenoble, ILL Chadwick Amphitheater, 16 -18 December 2009

The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL), in consultation with their respective user communities and their governing bodies, intend to set up a Partnership for Soft Condensed Matter (PSCM). The PSCM will be established in a step-by-step process, initially as a support facility for the better exploitation of neutron and synchrotron scattering instruments in Soft Matter Research. The PSCM, in the medium term, will  provide a platform for promoting the complementary aspects of neutron and synchrotron techniques.  The long-term mission of the PSCM is to streamline neutron and synchrotron based Soft Matter Research to address 21st century challenges in nanomaterials, biotechnology, environmental and energy sciences. New laboratories equipped for sample preparation and characterization will be hosted in the planned Science Building which will become available in 2012.
The aim of the workshop is to mobilize potential Associate Partners and set the scientific agenda of the partnership as well as exploring the various possibilities for external funding
