Work placements

Are you looking for the opportunity to put your learning into practice, to work in an exciting and international scientific environment, and to discover the wealth of expertise at the Institute?

Consider spending a few months at the ILL…

Every year students choose to spend part of their university career working at the ILL for periods varying usually from two to six months. Whilst most of the placements are scientific in content, there are also opportunities in other fields (computing, technical, administration).

Current placement opportunities

The placement must be covered by a work placement agreement (convention de stage) signed by the teaching institution, the ILL and the student.

If you feel that a placement corresponds to your profile and requirements, email the placement supervisor directly, enclosing your CV and a covering letter and quoting the appropriate reference. We will contact you at the end of the preselection process if your application is successful.

Applications should be sent between December and February if possible. Any later applications will be accepted only if there are placements still available.

N.B.: It is better to apply for a specific work placement vacancy. However, if you do not find any suitable vacancies, you may send us an unsolicited application by email (recruitment(at)ill.eu). Although the number of placements is extremely limited, we will consider your application and contact you again if we can offer you a placement topic which is compatible with your studies.
